The Deep End with LOS on My Love Is Crack
This year has been a quiet storm for LOS; he had an EP titled “Starliner Pack” that appeared at the start of the year that showed so much promise, but because of personal matters in his life, he had to halt his career a bit. He’s only human, and sometimes we need time to grieve from loss, which is what LOS did. Now literally days before we exit 2021, Los decided to share his inner thoughts in a 15-track album titled My Love Is Crack” which explains his hiatus & emotions in a profound conventional manner for what I believed to be in the album of the year conversation. Take that how you feel but don’t question me if you haven’t listened to the album yet. With so many powerful moments and so many gems poured into this album, you’ll understand why I feel so confident about that exact take.
Geronimo - The intro is the essential part of an album because if it doesn't move you, the rest don't fall in line. LOS doesn't need to worry about that since this record is the epitome of a great start. Its constructed heavenly with sample on the production by Terron Clark, who applies the pressure right out the gate. Los begins to bare out his soul on wax & while he's fuming with past troubles & recent losses, he begins to show you a clear description for the reason of the title.
Paylos - Taking a bit more rugged approach, Los begins to spaz out on the record with fire in his palm and red in his eyes. He continues dumping out emotions on the record. I'm sure plenty more venting sessions will surface throughout the project, but starting an album like this is an impressive take.
Ruby - Laying down bars after bars in an aggressive way, LOS continues to pave his way forward with melodious production that sits nicely beside him. His boisterous manner to be larger than life on a track is seen perfectly here, and I think it's the hidden gem of the project (no pun intended)
No Scratches - The first joint we get with a more laid back beat to sit and relax to while LOS dips back & forth from a suave demeanor to then proceed to cut up down the block with the southern draw that keeps the hate at the dock of the bay and has him rocking a slow-burning record while exhaling the past grief away
Sinclair - Off rip, this was one of my favorite joints when I played the album for the first time since I like how the exotic medley brush against the alluring flow he was signaling in the track. It significantly pushed the feeling of the project & showcased some of the sounds you heard in the previous joints and what to expect in the forthcoming records.
Pick One Get One - Kanye said it best "I don't know what's better, getting laid or getting paid I just know when I'm getting one, the other's getting away," and LOS is not making the same mistake. Unless she bad like Chole Bailey, he's sticking to obtaining the cash & stacking it by any means necessary
Can't You - "Can't You Tell We Love These Hoes" is sung through the record, but it's much more than that. As he knows, women should be respected & finding love sits right next to this thought process. While he dodges women with promiscuous intention, he's looking for the one that can stop his player ways and have him be the apple of her eye and treat her like the goddess she is.
Good & Well - The heartfelt ballad of someone seeking love when his past has written him his ticket. He's not that guy anymore, so if you can believe and trust him, he'll go the distance to show that you belong with him. Being a player isn't in his repertoire anymore, so don't looking for it.
Fornever - This track might be the best thing I've heard all this year. Granted, it's coming from the album of the year, but still, there's a lot to dissect here. LOS begins to vent the way he knows how, by sharing more than what's anticipated. Most artists wouldn't share the meaning of what makes them tick or the fears they have walking around on earth. Los shares every hit of himself on this track, nothing to fake, nothing to hide this is all Los.
Faith Driven - LOS speaks on his trials and tribulations, not knowing if heaven is possible for him. He hopes it is, he lists the reason they wouldn't allow him to walk through the pearly gates, but he understands he's currently paying his dues. Lord hear his prayer in the record, this is a man who wants to walk among the angels with wings, and sure enough, he's on the right path to see these better days.
Wagwan - I first had to do my Googles to get a better idea of what the track title meant. I love learning about different languages. I'm going to let you all do your own research, but I got more appreciation for this ballad after the lesson. It helped us get more acquainted with Donalee, who I'm now a fan of. She's soulful mixed with sass, and I enjoyed her verse very much, with then having Los anchoring away from the record with flawless ability to keep you drifted among the clouds.
We All - another collaboration with a songstress we were unaware of, but that's the beauty of music. Carol Crosby does a dynamic job in playing the role of spilling out her heart in the chorus while Los battles his demons throughout the track in a more impactful manner that we sense heavily in his heartfelt moments.
Cry Then Breathe - LOS behind production like this is a dream come true. He spazzes in such a melodic way that when the background harmonies of the samples wail, LOS is constructing a barrage of bars that makes him an unstoppable force.
More Chaos - The outro is mighty; he doesn't hesitate to talk about the recent losses in his life. The dark clouds don't stay around for long; he knows in his journey days as this will happen, but it's how we move on from them build back out being. He then adjusts back to speak on the motivation that life brings him to bask in the glory once again. His time is here, and no one will block it away, he holds the power of his future, and right now, it's looking supreme for him.
Neatly placed on the table is an assortment of bags to placed the product of the streets in them. We sat aside from LOS to admire these weightless items in getting more details about the creative and recording process of what made “My Love Is Crack” come to life.
