iLL Manner Shows leads Boldy James return back to the Lone Star State on a high note
Through the embracing doors of Antone’s last night, begin the first stop of Boldy James' “Back Outside” tour, started in the live music capital of the world thanks to ill Manner Shows. His tour was initially slated to begin last year, but an unfortunate car accident saw the Detroit native dodging possible paralyzation. Through blessings and prayers, it got him on the road to recovery, where months later he was back performing for his first appearances in New York, Detroit & Los Angeles to now seeing the Lone Star State as his latest tour endeavor. Along with Boldy, Chase Fetti & Brody Fresh are accompanying him on tour as openers, with each city having their own local talents representing.
The night began with DJ Kimblee on the 1s & 2s playing a batch of rare and classic joints where hip-hop heads rejoice in the crowd when the Chopstar DJ starts to spin an immaculate set that continued throughout the night. The first openers for the evening were Concept & Apollo Black, whose conscious level of rap began to attract the crowd to the front of the stage and keep them bopping their heads in approval throughout their set.
Following the duo’s performance, New Braunfel's own Banco hit the stage to share his set time alongside Adrilla & Matthew Jordan, where all together, the three emcees put on a display of suaveness in their performance that left an impressionable mark for the night. Afterwards, J Soulja, who’s known to be a prominent performer on the stage at Antone’s, raised the bar on his latest performance where he kept hands up throughout his ten-minute time and had the entire place in attention for every word he rapped, making this one of his best performances to date. Up next were performances by DaBwoiFane, TDotPringle & Lil PJ, who all delivered an immersive amount of exhilaration through each of their sets, carrying over to the headlining portion of the tour. Brodie Fresh started with all eyes in his direction, and it kept up throughout his time with new fans growing by the minute of his flow, garnishing with truths in his life and tribulations that followed him throughout his days. By far, he is one of the few emcees we’ve come across in our journey. The next performer was a surprise; before Boldy hit the stage, his son Bo J got in his rapping bag, which had the attendees in the crowd going wild during his performance, like father-like son.
At last, Boldy James hit Antone’s stage and shared his time with Chase Fetti, where, back to back, they played hit after hit while keeping fans consistent with hip-hop & realness throughout their thirty-minute set. Boldy performed tracks from his illustrious catalog, with “Double Hockey Stick,” “Diamond Dallas,” “Designer Drugs,” & more being some of the highlights, but again it doesn’t touch the surface of what his stage presence brings when you see it live. The night concluded with a meet & greet of fans presenting vinyls and collected items to have signed by Boldy, where it finished the night with another successful run under iLL Manner Shows.
Mal, the owner of iLL Manner Shows, spoke highly of the night and performers where he’s kept his word to ensure every show would be greater than the last. He’s on a winning streak with these events, with more to come in the near future. He’s noting the success with the impact he brings to the city with the assistance from Antone’s holding the crown as a venue to perform when in Austin & creating a space for out-of-town performers to look into when they begin plotting their tours. Boldy is in Houston today, so for our H-town residence, make sure you're hitting up the show tonight, and if you're not, then miss out on an incredible hip-hop show, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
