Fellas, hide your girl, Thundercat is in her city | Aztec Theatre 10.28
In his third city for Texas on his “In Yo Girl’s City” tour, Thundercat found himself behind the doors of the Aztec Theatre in San Antonio during the last week of October, where his presence was heavily appreciated, especially by fans admiring the talented sounds of the “Dragonball Durag” songwriter known to be spectacular with his stage set. His recent tour’s setup was inspired by the 1985 cartoon, which isn’t new for him to do but one of the best to witness. The intensity of his performance genuinely left those in attendance in a vibrant mood, and San Antonio was in for a treat since the weather remained perfect and busy due to the nightlife, matching the vibe they just embarked on.
Performing tracks off his Grammy-award-winning album, “It Is What It Is,” Thundercat also played hits off his other projects featuring hits like “Them Changes,” “Tron Song,” & many more, with waves of attendees singing their hearts out. There is never a dull moment in his performance; he rallies with an infectious energy that you can fall into this blissful soundscape where his music has that type of effect already, but seeing it in person is a deeper connection. The atmosphere can’t be defined in words; you really need to be there yourself to feel it. The best way to describe it is an ethereal reaction with a splash of essential elements from start to finish. I’ve personally seen Thundercat performed in different settings. Still, the intimate experience you get at venues like this can’t be compared, and at a place like the Aztec, it only makes the music bask in a room of pure tranquillity.
The Aztec Theatre has been on an echelon scale of presenting these monumental events, and with Thundercat under its belt for the year, you can guarantee that they will end the year 2023 with a lot of success. Thank you for the fantastic hospitality, Aztec Theatre, and the incredible performance of Thundercat, who we wish well for him and his team on the last leg of their tour. I highly recommend if he’s coming to your city in these upcoming weeks that, you make yourself free to enjoy a star-studded performance.
