Hidden Gems - Mike Dimes
A name that you’ve seen consists this year has become hip-hop's biggest surprises, Mike Dimes, has appeared swiftly in listener’s eyes & ears this year where his name has been ringing in his hometown of San Antonio including being on a world tour with people throughout the globe recognizing & remembering his name. He started like many pioneers before, being adored with rap since adolescence but didn’t find his voice until he was older. He then, at the time, had more people to confide in about his evolution in the art of rap. His success in music almost didn’t happen, as he nearly quit before he got started, but due to his single “My Story” it became such a game-changer for him, he began to start seeing parts of the limelight shine upon him. With the growing success for the record making its way out on Tik-Tok, Mike Dimes then got to work on building his presence and came out charging with his follow-up track “No Trends.” It became a highly favorable record making a more substantial impact than his previous release, which he then followed up the success from the two singles into his 2021 project “DLOG.” The project was such a huge accomplishment for him that it then grew on a global scale where many major outlets started adding him to their “Artists To Watch” category with billboards from Rap Caviar & Spotify popping up with his face plastered on in the middle of Time Square & other surrounding cities to solidified his stature as being one of the sharpest artists in hip-hop to start noticing.
Mike Dimes kept his composure cool & calm while receiving these notable achievements but once the near year started he didn’t waste any time putting his stamp on 2022. In just three months, he gained enough traction & awareness to help push another project out titled “In Dimes We Trust” that was promoted heavily from his first single of the year titled “Home.” He accompanied the release with having a billboard in San Antonio promoting the upcoming album & announcing a Texas run to perform some of the prestigious records in a live setting. The year is just starting, and already we’ve seen him making significant waves (no pun intended) with having a performance at SXSW, a placement on Rolling Loud NY & an opening act spot on Denzel Curry’s upcoming tour. I’m sure there is a lot more in store from him; just looking at a forecast of his followers & his accolades, I can see him being signed later in the year to Dreamville or Colombia Records since he has a lot of followers from both labels. I’m sure time will tell if any of that comes into fruition, but for now, we’re just enjoying the moment in seeing a rising artist from San Antonio, TX begin to take flight.
