Aye Cue - The Playbook (Album)

Aye Cue delivers a merry go round of zany soundscapes and irresistibly fun lyrics, teetering and tottering as he slips into each track with such grace so as to not spill a sip of his drink on his drip.

Aye is the water, the wave, the tidal wave at that splashing and dampening sandbox castles with these records, like a musical maze, it’s one dizzying experience as he breezes through this warped array of trap friendly dreamscapes (the previously released “Krillen”, “Mass Appeal”), night life, fast life velocity (“Bag & Tag”, “Who I Am”), he even throws a curveball with the sinister west coast esque head nodding, bar heavy standout cut (“The Routine”).

All of this is beautifully packed up like a children’s story, well with all three of the spoken word skits that offer wonderful insight into the quirky yet inspirational mind of Aye Cue, this album is like some new school Slick Rick shit, I’d go as far as to say “The Playbook” is up there with other classics like “Corduroy” (also his flows are velvety like the fabric) & any Dr. Seuss book being how playful this whole album sounds, what a way to usher in this new year with such an impeccable body of work.
