King Khali - Before I Knew It (Album)

In royal fashion, King Khali released his anticipated album “Before I Knew It” towards the ending of October that featured appearance from artists like Reek, Sage, D’Shaun, dehtei ber, Levicantsing even his mother, Antoinette Michelle, that assisted in telling the story of Ashanti’s past, present and future in music that build his statured presences on what it is today.

“Before I Knew It” is the follow up to his Poor Decisions, Good Intentions album that triumphed in the city of being one of the most evolved project since he told truths of his troubled past. Having an album that is on the road to be a certified classic, your follow up has to endure a stronger presences and exceeds expectations. I can’t lie to y’all honestly I was concern for Ashanti because I knew it was going to be a difficult process building that same edge as PDGI but with this here he got personal with his content and elevated a viewing of showing his heart on his sleeve and becoming an open book that you can read.

He shifted his focus more deeply in this 12-track project that story tales his ambitions, goals, losses and heartbreaks to viewers who’ve paid close attention to his art. He dug into topics that i’m sure was rough to even get down on his notepad, he captivated us right out the gate with the intro “Revenge/Reparations” that showcases the naive in his character when he was young & the growth he’s experiencing now. He solidifies a drive with tracks like “Next Man” & “I Get It” to engage with his menacing lyrics that halts when he speaks about his queen in “Bidi” that deep dives into a pure love rant. The tracks play along well and when he get to the outro it’s there that we feel accomplished, we’ve listen to an artist shed all that he has for us to just pay attention and hear his cry. Ashanti is the message in music that has feeling, he is the storyteller of our generation where it was looked at lost but now it is found. I truly am blessed to have seen the come up happen and I’m even grateful to hear it in this album.

I sat for hours thinking how I would end this post because I really wanted to say some peaceful shit, I came up with this…you don’t have to like Ashanti as a person, you don’t really have to be buddy buddy with him but you do have to respect the representation that he delivers for the city which isn’t even where he was born but still shows so much respect for it. He showed you his heart so it’s only right we do it back. Stream the album as many times as you can and share it around on all social media platforms while showing it much deserve support.
