King Kay - Far from the Castle (EP)

He gave us “Castle in the Clouds” then declared himself the “KING in the Clouds” but on “Far from the Castle”, Pack Static’s own King Kay opens up the portcullis and skyrockets away from both for a much more polished expansion and amalgamation of backpack rap and subtle pop sensibilities the King concocts with ease.

Whether you want feel good college radio vibes on “Forward”, quirky, technologically technically advanced rhyming on “Knuckles” which sounds like something out of an arcade game, straight up backpack rapping on “Black Bull”, introspectiveness on “Mega Man”, addictive Trap sparring on “Suit Up” or sluggishly moody cloud rap vibes on “Star Wars”, there’s plenty great here for the Indie rap fans to enjoy.

Kay is only improving more and more with each release in this saga, lyrically and artistically, the songwriting growing ever so superb and Clutch Hopkins, Black Domino, Big Texas & Jerome Darius feed off his genius in their own unique ways.

Where will we find our King next?
