Can you Get Down ? with The Get Down

This past Friday Netflix released another of their awesome shows. As many of our readers and us included didn't live during the 70s but this new hip hop musical drama portrays the lifestyle of the youth in the broken down streets of Bronx. Well so i thought going by the trailers that was release to promote it i thought of this series as is more of a Romeo and Juliet story than actually chronicling the rise of hip hop. Although many famous names and people are mentioned on the show. The narrative of the whole hip hop genre seem to take a back burn and the full focus is the main character Zeke while he starts to enter in the whole underground scene of hip hop and his lust for his neighborhood girlfriend as she is trying to make it as a disco singer which is the opposite of what Zeke is trying to be. so I took from it as a more boy meets girl and falls in love type of show, Although Netflix only released the first 6 episodes of season one and the rest later this year or early next year. I'm gonna hope the last 6 episodes of the series turns its around.
